In December 2009, most of the world's environmental community was focused on the activities occurring in and around the Bella Conference Center in Denmark - site of the annual UN global climate negotiations. However, the SF Carbon Collaborative saw this an opportunity to educate and engage a local audience. To this end, we hosted the Copenhagen Cafe at the Green Zebra Environmental Action Center. Over the span of two weeks, we reached nearly 200 people with an impressive range of environmental and climate change content.

We discussed innovative approaches to forest conservation, explored carbon cycling in the oceans, and considered the broader implications of our food choices. We took a comprehensive look at the role urban environments and clean technologies will play in our future efforts to combat climate change. And we connected Cafe attendees with local resources and organizations, thereby enabling them to translate their newfound interest and understanding into action. It was a wonderful way for us to end the year and a great source of momentum as we headed into 2010.
